Women’s Winter Training/Spring Tackle

Spring 2023 marks the inaugural season for the Ontario Women’s Football League (OWFL) and Peel is excited to announce that we are planning to field U19 and U16 teams for the upcoming 2023 Spring season. The women’s season will see our players have the option to get exposure with the Provincial team if they so choose. There are currently seven other centres committed to fielding teams, but we expect this number to grow.

The birthdates for U19 are 2005, 2006 and 2007. U16’s birthdates are 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In the New Year the women will embark on an aggressive training schedule that will be identical to the men’s program. The following will provide you with more detail about our plans.

Winter Training

Winter training starts January 7th. On Tuesdays and Thursdays all athletes will participate in strength and conditioning in the gym and weight room at David Suzuki Secondary School. On Saturdays, we will be on the turf at Save Max Sports Centre (formerly Brampton Soccer Centre). We will be providing a breakdown of the age groups and timing on this page in the coming weeks. All turf training will be overseen by a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Spring Tackle Football

The women’s teams will compete in the only sanctioned women’s summer league, the OWFL. Our program provides the best opportunity for our athletes to focus on improving fundamentals and skill development while providing a competitive environment for them to participate in.

The Panthers are focused on development and inclusion as such the Club will not be holding tryouts or combines in an attempt to recruit players, but there will be a limit on the number of players per age level.

Practices and Games

Both teams will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays at David Suzuki Secondary School from 8:00PM to 10:00PM. Outdoor practices will likely begin the first week of April, contingent on the City. We have asked for the use of the field on Wednesdays but don’t yet have any confirmation.

All home games will be on Saturdays at David Suzuki. We expect home games to begin the first of second week of May. All home games will be live-streamed through HomeTeamLive.
